Juan Atkins and Moritz Von Oswald Reveal New Album

borderlands transport

In April, Juan Atkins and Moritz von Oswald will release a new LP as Borderland. Titled Transport it will come out on Tresor as part of the legendary Berlin club’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

The duo’s second LP together ties in with Tresor’s 25th anniversary celebrations, with the release scheduled for 24th April. The seven-track LP, which will also be available on CD, will be preceded by an EP on 11th March featuring the original mix and an alternative version of album cut Riod. The pair’s self-titled debut dropped in 2013 and they have since together at festivals such as Detroit’s Movement.

Tresor describes Transport as “a new set of studio-refined sequences aimed at colonizing some of the dark energy that pulsates through those areas that are thoroughly electrified”, it “flickers between a form of techno-charged ambience and a futuristic club-jazz which cannot be broken down into constitutive parts. Borderland remains caught in a state of enraptured stillness, invisibly moving between every
imagined future for electronic sound making. The result: a font from which springs serene and exhilarating musical ideas that vibrate with refined energy for sixty seconds in every minute.”

Pantha du Prince Reveals New LP, The Triad

pantha du prince

Rough Trade will release Pantha du Prince’s latest album The Triad on 20th May.

The German producer last put out solo material in 2010, his acclaimed Black Noise LP. In the meantime he released Elements Of Light with The Bell Laboratory in 2013 and formed The Triad, with Scott Mou (who releases as Queens on the Dial label) and Bendik Kjeldsberg, who is part of the aforementioned bell ensemble. Speaking about the LP, Pantha du Prince states, “Black Noise was very much about me being alone in a small room in Berlin and composing. The Triad opens the structure to more human ways of interacting, not digitized ways of interacting. It’s not about Facebook; it’s about meeting up and jamming. I wanted to cut through the digital dust that surrounds us.”

Robert Hood to Release New Floorplan LP

robert hood lyric hood floorplan

The venerated Detroit techno producer Robert Hood, who also works under the alias Floorplan, has announced the release of a new collaborative album with his daughter, Lyric. Titled Victorious, the LP will drop in June via Hood’s M-Plant label.

The album succeeds 2013’s acclaimed Paradise LP which also landed via M-Plant. Hood’s Floorplan work features more house, funk and gospel-influenced material than the minimal techno under his own name that he is most well-known for.

Now, weeks after announcing a new Robert Hood LP for Dekmantel, he has revealed that the Floorplan project will return for a second album. This time, however, Hood’s daughter has joined on production duties. Lyric has regularly stood beside her father during DJ sets and Hood has stated his pride in seeing his daughter grow as a DJ and producer. She has contributed production to a number of cuts on Victorious.

The press release explains the meaning of the album’s title: “We live in a world filled with adversity, the key to surviving and even thriving in this era of uncertainty is knowing how to walk in victory. The truth is we are more than conquerors. We are VICTORIOUS”

Victorious will be available on triple vinyl, CD and digital formats. Stream a preview via the SoundCloud player below where the LP’s tracklist is also laid out.

The Field’s fifth album, titled The Follower, will come out on 1st April on Kompakt.

The Swedish producer, celebrated for his gauzy loops and dream-like ambient techno, describes the six-track album coming together by “experimenting with a lot of new recording equipment and gear. The Follower is about old myths, finding utopia and how mankind repeatedly makes the same mistakes over and over.” He also says, “As always when starting a new album, I wanted to do something that sounds fresh, but doesn’t stray too far from what I have so far done as The Field, and that’s always the tricky part”.

No clips of The Follower have been shared yet but the album’s tracklist is laid out below.
