The venerated Detroit techno producer Robert Hood, who also works under the alias Floorplan, has announced the release of a new collaborative album with his daughter, Lyric. Titled Victorious, the LP will drop in June via Hood’s M-Plant label.
The album succeeds 2013’s acclaimed Paradise LP which also landed via M-Plant. Hood’s Floorplan work features more house, funk and gospel-influenced material than the minimal techno under his own name that he is most well-known for.
Now, weeks after announcing a new Robert Hood LP for Dekmantel, he has revealed that the Floorplan project will return for a second album. This time, however, Hood’s daughter has joined on production duties. Lyric has regularly stood beside her father during DJ sets and Hood has stated his pride in seeing his daughter grow as a DJ and producer. She has contributed production to a number of cuts on Victorious.
The press release explains the meaning of the album’s title: “We live in a world filled with adversity, the key to surviving and even thriving in this era of uncertainty is knowing how to walk in victory. The truth is we are more than conquerors. We are VICTORIOUS”
Victorious will be available on triple vinyl, CD and digital formats. Stream a preview via the SoundCloud player below where the LP’s tracklist is also laid out.
