Ostgut Ton to Release Virginia LP

virginia

On 27th May, Ostgut Ton will drop Fierce For The Night, Virginia’s debut album.

Virginia has been strongly affiliated with the label for several years, having released a few EPs for Ostgut Ton as well as being a longstanding resident at Berghain/Panorama Bar, Ostgut Ton’s sister clubs. Fierce For The Night, her first full-length with the label, was co-produced by Dutch artists Martyn, Dexter and Steffi (whom Virginia worked with on her LP Yours & Mine), and features her vocals on all 11 tracks.

According to the label, the songs are centred around themes of love, lust and life. Virginia explains, “Love, longing and lightness are the superior motifs of my album. They’re universal human emotions, but also part of the classic house music narrative.” Taking influence from funk, disco, UK garage, drum & bass and house, it is “first and foremost an album about relationships” whose message is to “go out, enjoy yourself, loosen up and take what’s good for you.”

Set for release digitally and on vinyl, clips of album cuts Funkert and Raverd can be streamed below where the full tracklist is detailed.

Steffi to release Power Of Anonymity via Ostgut Ton

Steffi will release her second album, Power Of Anonymity, via Ostgut Ton on 10th November.

In another excellent year of Ostgut Ton, they will be releasing Steffi’s second album, following 2011’s Yours & Mine. The Dutch DJ and producer also mixed Panorama Bar 05 last year. The album will consist of ten tracks, one of which is a collaboration with Virginia, who contributed to Yours & Mine.

Steffi informs us that she… “wanted to start working on my new album without any personal or external expectations and I was seeking an emancipated, unshackled approach in the album’s construction.” She adds, “My first LP was very  conceptual, it has a certain vibe that not only fits the club but also works on a stereo or in the car. Power Of Anonymity is much more about how I see the dance floor these days, and my aim was to take that vision into the studio. I asked myself what would happen if I could produce day after day without DJ gigs and travel interrupting my flow. These long stints in the studio allowed me to divide my time into three single blocks: initially I would only do jams and make sketches, followed by a phase for arranging and editing all recordings, and then a mixdown period for the album. Concentrating on creating Power Of Anonymity has inspired me to carry on tapping deeper into my creative vein.”

Power Of Anonymity will be released on vinyl, digital and CD formats.
